"Winning isn't everything", this is so apt on this occasion! As 1st runner up Shukur said, It is not about the prize, not about the no.1, it is about what we have gain in this process, it is about being part of it! And the champion, victor, said it is the intention of wanting to win that pushes one to achieve the greater success! As such he made it to the champion! All 5 contestants expressed diverse of opinion with diverse of style. have you learnt something new that you can apply in the next table topic session?
A lively international speech contest with 4 prepared international speech contestants and 1 impromptu contestant, impressive performance of all the contestants! (rounds of applause!!!!!)
Zubir's well researched topic provided practical tips how we can live longer yet healthier; victor's chains of regret shared a big lesson learnt on grasping every opportunity to do something before it's too late; the name of "shukur" carries a great meaning of being thankful and grateful; the impromptu contestant, Stephen, who can cook up a speech in minutes before contest started on elements of success and won 2nd runner up place!
"no time", "not ready", "not this time".... Members, these maybe some herders we created for ourselves not participating in contest or doing our speech assignments. Today, all our contestants, our home-grown club members, have led by example that these herders can be overcome! They are all busy professionals/ managers working in corporate or entrepreneur who has every minute counts for profit yet they dedicated time to prepare for the contest and they have stimulated great learning for us in many ways and I am sure they have in some ways gain some benefits themselves as well !
Let us get inspiration from them, practice regularly in our coming meetings and push ourselves forward to the next contests to come!
